1 Question on Reader and Author intimacy

How much should readers know about an authors politics, beliefs, and life-views ?

Should they know, only as much as the author writes about, or do you think they should know more?

I, for one, think that getting too personal with the authors, destroys the romance of reading their work. Unless, one happens to be like, who the author is.

  1. Those that feel they need to know everything about an author before they read. Are probably unsure about their own position, and don't want to get seduced by a position that they don't agree with based on the title of such a position.

For instance, a person that claims to be a capitalist, but don't really know what that means, might be afraid to read a communistic author. Avoiding the other side means avoiding to face their own position with logic and reason.
